Almost all of our produce is organic. Our partner farms grow their produce without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, GMOs, or herbicides like glyphosate. Most are USDA Certified Organic. A few are Certified Naturally Grown (CNG), a peer-reviewed system with the same growing standards that’s often a stepping stone toward full USDA certification.
Each item in the shop is tagged "Organic," "CNG," or "Conventional," so you always know what you’re getting.
- There are 2 Conventional items in the shop: Peaches and Champlain Orchards’ apples.
- Champlain Orchards’ apples. Champlain Orchards is not certified organic, but they follow rigorous environmental practices through an Eco certification program developed by regional scientists and farmers. Organic apple farming works well in the dry climate of central Washington, where over 93% of certified organic apples in the U.S. are grown. The Northeast’s wetter climate, wider range of pests, and different disease pressures make national organic standards a poor fit for the region—so Champlain uses practices specifically designed to protect pollinators, build soil health, and treat their orchards as whole ecosystems.
